Idea is improvement thinking and it is a part of everyone’s ability. EVERYBODY CAN GENERATE IDEAS! Anyone can come up with a small idea and every idea is a step closer to a more productive idea. Your idea is what another person needs to come up with another idea.
Most people generate ideas easily when they are in problem, when it seems there’s no other alternative, when they are going through the dark. We don’t need to wait till situations force us to generate idea before we become conscious of this wonderful skill of ours. Be aware and guard against any blockage of flow of ideas.
1. Critics: Most ideas die as fetus because of the fear of critics. Critics will communicate their opinions and assessments, either you generate Idea or not. They should be used as spring that will catapult you to excellence.
The fear of what people will say should be flushed off your mind because if you don’t come up with ideas they will call you a dullard, if you keep generating ideas they will call you ‘too know’. They might even tell it to your face that you are wasting your time. Your result will humble them. The world is waiting for your brainchild.
2. Selfishness: We’ve been taught that every idea must be commercialised, and that’s the major cause of some people’s frustration; the last time they tried to market an idea, people did not buy and they stopped generating ideas.
Don’t be selfish, generate idea to create value. Generate idea to solve human demonstrable problems. When you are good at it and known for it, it will metamorphose into wealth. If you want to write books, start writing articles regularly without planning to make profit, if you want to be a musician, start composing and singing for your local church, if you want to be a consultant, start with your immediate environment. Don’t hoard your ideas. The more you give the better for you.
3. Ignorance: Ignorance is a major barrier to generating ideas, many who ought to have been giant idea generators are still dwarfs, they are not serving people their idea because they think people are not giving them the accolade they deserve. They pick offence because people did not like, comment or share their post on facebook and are discouraged because nobody retweet their tweets on twitter. If there’s no comment on your blog, move on, it means your idea is great and acceptable, it means it is not controversial. Don’t be discouraged by waiting for people’s approval. It is the consistency of generating ideas that bring progress.
