Develop your capacities too

ATOYEBI Samuel Hon. Psalm

As you pray, you must also be committed to developing your capacities.

You need capacities in problem-solving, communication, leadership, technical expertise, financial literacy, time management, self-discipline, goal setting, etc. They are part of the containers you need to accommodate and distribute the blessings of God.

God will bless “it”, but you must do “it”. HE promised to bless the work of your hands, so you must do the work . Part of this work involves cultivating the capacities, skills, and qualities necessary to give expression to the blessings of God in your life.

Do your best, and always revisit the rest when you acquire more knowledge. God is not the problem; HE is faithful. If you lean on HIM, HE will help you anytime you call on HIM, but HE will need you to have the capacity to handle what HE wants to give to you.

So, as you develop your spiritual abilities through various spiritual exercises, engage diligently in doing the work according to the rules.

You need to intensify efforts in developing your social, intellectual, and emotional abilities so that you can have enough ‘vessels’ to express the blessings of God you have downloaded through prayers and other spiritual exercises.

Scriptural references:

2 Kings 4:6 (NIV): When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.

Proverbs 22:29 (NIV): “Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.” This verse highlights the importance of developing skills and capacities to excel in one’s work.

Colossians 3:23 (NIV): “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV): “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” This verse underscores the importance of continuous learning and improvement.
