Who are you, Needed or Needy?

Everyday the number of the needy in our society is increasing and the number of the needed is reducing. The needy are those depending on other people for their comfort or survival without any attempt to leave the world better than they met it; the rich needy are so poor that the only thing they have is money, they use money and time to make more money just to be more comfortable. They prefer to buy everything. If it is available, it is affordable. The poor needy use their time and energy to make and spend money. The needy always put their wants ahead of the needs of other people. They die and their memory fade too soon.

However, the needed are the desirables; they are those who have taken it upon themselves to solve one or more demonstrable human problems as someone is solving theirs, they decide to produce as they consume other people’s products. They are always eager to try something different as far as it will solve a problem for at least somebody somewhere. They care less about money, perks, position and fame. They invest their time and energy to know better so that they can solve more problems and when they make more money they give more to the welfare and advancement of humanity. They are fruitful, they multiply, they replenish the earth and subdue it with their brain child. They live even after their death.

The good news is; everybody can be desirable. We can all offer better services, produce better products, create a new product or service, add value to an existing system, be a godly role model, make life worth living for others, ease life for others with our time, energy, knowledge, skills, talents, money, prayers, and expertise. We all have the potential, don’t wait for a better time, let’s have you. As you go on this worthy journey of being needed, you need;

1. Courage: There might be times when dust will be kicked up on your path as a desirable, just accept it as just a bend and not an end. Being a desirable is demanding but it is far more rewarding. The greater the impact you want to leave in the world or any aspect of life, the greater the risk you will have to take. Greatness requires risk. There might be times when the ground will be slippery, if you fall, you will fall on your feet just like a cat falling from a height- no matter what, they always seem to fall on their feet.

2. Passion: You need to move from the transitory of happiness of the moment to seek a much deeper happiness that ultimately comes from fulfilling purpose. You need energy from within. Passion will motivate you to move beyond your comfort zone to achieve the potential that resides within you. Passion will keep you on track and call you inexorably back to the quest ahead.

3. Commitment: There is difference between knowing how to fight and willing to fight. You must be willing to give your time, resources and energy to generate ideas that create advancement for the society and do things for common good. You must bind yourself to a course. You must show that it is very important to your existence, follow through and stick with it. Until you are committed to your positive contribution to the world, there will be hesitancy, the chance to draw back and ineffectiveness. You need to build and sustain commitment.
