Go Forward

Welcome to the month of May where every doubt should be dealt with.

What do you think if you have done would have moved you forward? What’s that step that can possibly promote you? What’s your excuse for not attempting it? Don’t delay your day of glory, go forward, do it! If it did not work out as planned, try again, and again until it works or you discover new things you wouldn’t have discovered if idle.

Today is the 121st day of this year, that means about one-third of the year 2014 is gone, time is always progressing. Its too early to let things just happen, you are in control, make things happen. Most times it is our fear that holds us back. Take time to recognise what the barrier is, if it is fear, defeat it, you can’t afford to be caged by your fear. For how long will you hang around? Afterall, ‘God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound mind.’ This is the right time to move on with life.

Could it be that you are waiting for people’s approval? The only human approval that is important is yours. Nobody knows you inside out like you do. Most times, people out of love can cage you, they control you with their own fear or experience. If God says yes, you are good to go! If you are on the right path, any step will take you closer to your success. Not doing anything progressive is dangerous. Forge into new territory called forward.

1. Do the Little: Don’t be ashame of starting small, you have to start somewhere and the best place to start is where you are with what you have. Do yourself the good of dismantling your own myths of overnight success. Reprogramme your standard for all your pursuits, don’t let your quest for material freedom become the predominant motive for productivity, the process is what validates the product. The end alone is not enough to justify the means. Greatness is a marathon not a sprint. Don’t despise the day of little beginning.

2. Do the Needful: Don’t remain small, fight your way through to the top of your game. Know what it takes to get what you want. There is no such thing as something for nothing. You must be willing to give something in return for the height that you want to attain in life. Your working brain is your productivity tool, you need to continue personal and professional development to remain relevant. Always take pleasure in rolling up your sleeves; motivate yourself and do the work. Keep learning what it takes to win in the 21st century, and apply them. Don’t keep the world waiting. Show up! Let’s enjoy what you have to offer.

3. Do the Thinking: Master atleast 12 different ways of thinking. You’ve been thinking inside the box all this while, the hour has come to try think outside the box. The ‘box’ is the normal way of doing things and looking at things. It is the assumption that almost everyone involved is making. What is normal for you? It is normal for a graduate to put ‘job search’ as number 1 priority. What if you put the certificate aside and trade the knowledge? What if you add your education to your talents and offer unique value?

Some things will not change until you change the way you think. Being creative is no longer a luxury; it has become the bar of entry. Being creative is a skill. If you can’t think of new things, then invest in learning how to do old things in new ways or new things in old ways.
