No human can survive without ‘relationship’.
Irrespective of your nature, you cannot survive alone. You will need to relate with different types of people at various junctures of your life.
Your family members, class mates, teachers, clients, colleagues, friends, church members, comrades, neighbours, confidants, etc are part of the walls that built the you of today.
You cannot separate your relationships from your success in life. Your success either at work or at home depends on your ability to handle your relationships. So, to relate better, update your vocabularies, say and mean it when you say;
1. Thank you: appreciate those that have helped you before. In case they don’t even know they’ve been of help to you, tell it to them. Don’t wait till they are dead before you start posting on their social media timeline.
As individuals, we have in and around our lives people that are very close and useful to us. People who in time past believed in us, supported us, encouraged us and stood by us when we were struggling in life. They supplied our emotional, psychological and competence needs that encouraged us to move forward in life. We enjoyed their protection, support and motivation, don’t forget to appreciate them now. Either things are better or still getting better, now is a good time to acknowledge the effort of people in your life.
2. I am sorry: offending people is human, however, we must not underestimate the power of apologising whenever we offend people. Apologising is a sign of wisdom, it shows you are strong and reasonable.
3. I understand: you might not agree but try to understand. Honestly, you will not always be right, you don’t know it all, so learn to listen and listen to learn from others.
Life is dynamic. Give people the benefit of doubt. Understand them.
Your greatness is my fulfilment.
